Beverly Homecoming is right around the corner and the campaign is looking forward to a great week. We've got a lot planned, but the biggest thing is a sponsorship of the pre-fireworks concert at 7pm on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Lynch Park in Beverly.

The concert is part of the Beverly Park and Recreation Department’s summer concert series and will feature Ray Novack’s Horizon. Admission is free for the concert which serves as the warm-up act for the annual fireworks show marking the end of Beverly’s week-long Homecoming celebration.

As part of the sponsorship, the campaign will give concert-goers the chance to enter to win tickets for the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox.

The Beverly Citizen today published an editorial that mirrored very closely a press release sent by my campaign to the local press on Friday of last week. A little credit in the editorial would have been nice...

The Citizen agreed with my position and comments on the importance of the unemployment insurance rate freeze passed last week by the legislature and now awaiting the governor's signature. It also agreed with me that this move was just the first step in reforming our unemployment benefit system.
