Issues

Beverly first

The job of a State Representative is to fight for the needs of the city and citizens he represents and put those needs ahead of party leadership when necessary. I will approach every piece of legislation on which I vote by first asking the question, "How does this impact Beverly?

Budget Reform

We must reform the rules used to create the state's budget to make it a more transparent process with statutory limits on the budget's annual growth and with a greater amount of the money that we spend as a state going back to cities and towns to be used at the local level.

ReVIVING the Economy

Massachusetts continues to be a place where it is harder to do business than it needs to be, and that is going to hinder our ability to recover from this recession unless we act on the long-standing barriers facing our businesses. As a legislature, we must begin to address the high cost of doing business in the state so businesses large and small can grow and put people back to work.

Education

In Massachusetts, we know that high standards, accountability and independent oversight work in our schools. On Beacon Hill, I will work to defend all three. I will support policies that help prepare our kids for fiercely competitive, global job market where the competition is increasingly coming from countries all over the world where closing the education gap with the United States is the top priority.

Tax Relief

As Beverly's State Representative, I will not vote to increase your taxes. Period.

In fact, I will try to reduce them where we can. By getting the budget and spending under control, we can accomplish the twin goals of maintaining services and funding for priorities AND providing tax relief.

TRust and accountability

The time has come for citizens to demand more accountability from their elected leaders. As Beverly's State Representative, I will work every day to make sure that we eliminate the culture of corruption that exists on Beacon Hill, to ensure that my constituents are proud of the manner in which they are represented and to never lose sight of the fact that I work for you.
