Schetzsle Earns Endorsement of Small and Independent Business Community
Leading Small Business Association Recognizes Schetzsle's Commitment to Job Growth
Brett Schetzsle, Republican candidate for State Representative in the 6th Essex district, announced today the endorsement of his campaign by the Massachusetts arm of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) SAFE Trust PAC. The endorsement is a strong statement of support for Schetzsle's commitment to the small and independent business community.
“I am honored to have the support of the small and independent business community at a time when job growth and economic recovery is the top issue for virtually everyone in the commonwealth. Massachusetts remains an expensive and difficult place in which to do business and hire workers, particularly for those proven, existing businesses that need to be at the forefront of our economic recovery because, with improved conditions, they could start hiring right now," commented Schetzsle.
He added, "Whether or not this state lowers or removes the barriers faced by these businesses as they try to get people back to work is largely in the hands of the legislature. It is time that we send people to Beacon Hill who don't just talk about jobs, but actually understand the broad-based solutions we need and will work to see them implemented. My private-sector business background makes me the candidate in this race best positioned to do that."
Throughout his campaign, Schetzsle has emphasized the need to change the state's economic development priorities from picking and choosing industries to which are awarded favorable tax and financial incentives to emphasis on broad-based changes in the state's business tax code and regulatory environment to create a more stable and business-friendly climate for all businesses.
In a move consistent with his belief in transparency for voters and constituents, Schetzsle will make available on his website a copy of the questionnaire he completed to earn the NFIB endorsement as he has done with his previous endorsement from Citizens for Limited Taxation.
Schetzsle added, "I want voters to understand exactly what I have pledged to any group whose endorsement I accept so they can truly judge the value of that endorsement. I am hopeful that the other candidates in this race will live up to the same standard of transparency and be public with the conditions of their endorsements as well. There are groups who have made, and will seek to make, endorsements in this race by extracting promises to act or vote on issues in a way that will be at odds with the best interests of the voters in Beverly. Voters should be able to see when candidates have pledged to put those special interest priorities ahead of the district in exchange for financial support."
Brett Schetzsle is the only Republican candidate in the 6th Essex District race. Two Democrats, Jerry Parisella and Scott Houseman, will seek that party's nomination in the September 14th primary. The seat is currently held by Rep. Mary Grant (D-Beverly) who is not seeking re-election.
The NFIB is the nation's leading small business association and gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business. NFIB's mission is to promote and protect the right of its members to own, operate and grow their businesses. Its website can be found at www.NFIB.com.
